Welcome letters

Dear Laker Nation!  Welcome to Lakeshore Middle and our website!

I am excited to serve as your principal.  The 2022-2023 school year marks my 8th year as principal at Lakeshore Middle.  I have been a principal for Iredell-Statesville Schools since 2005 and have worked for ISS since 1994.

I am a graduate of Greensboro College, and received my Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003.  I am from Kannapolis NC, and currently reside in Mooresville with my wife Julie and our two children Noah and Skylar.  Noah is a graduate student at UNC-Charlotte.  Skylar attends Western Carolina University.

I am excited about working with all of you this year!  Please join me and the Staff in helping make this the best year yet at LMS!

Thank you for your support of our students and staff.  It is because of you that our educational team succeeds.  A school mission and vision help to set direction for a school community.  I believe in the success of every child.  You see that in the LMS mission and vision.  In order for our Lakers to be successful in High School and beyond we “must” focus on student success.  Our vision is built around three words: learn, motivate, and succeed (LMS).  We believe every child can learn and we have the desire to motivate them to succeed.  It takes all of us working together to reach our goals as a school and to accomplish our school vision and mission!

In order for learning to occur, our students, staff, and school community must be safe.  We operate on the premise of 3 B’s—Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.  Without a “safe” school campus and environment our students will not learn.  Thank you for your help and support in our efforts to be the best middle school in the area!

Brian Foster, M.A.

Dear Lakeshore Family

I am honored and blessed to serve as your assistant principal for the 2021-2022 academic year. I have been in education since January 1989 and taught in South Africa until June 2002 when I immigrated to the United States. I joined Iredell- Statesville schools in November 2007. I have been a very proud Laker since March 2014 when I came to LMS an instructional coach and in April 2017 I moved into the role of administrator.

I am a graduate of Cape Town College of Education and Cape Technikon. In 2012 I completed a Master’s Degree in School Administration and in 2016 a Doctor’s Degree in School Administration, both through Gardner-Webb University.

I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa, but I currently live in Mooresville. I have two children, Jemma and Aidan. Jemma is a graduate of UNC Asheville and Aidan is a high school senior this year. Both My children completed all their schooling through Iredell-Statesville schools.

I am looking forward to a great academic year and can’t wait to see all the happy faces of our returning students as well as to welcome all new Lakers to the family. We have an exceptional staff here at LMS who are dedicated to our students and help them to learn, grow and reach their full potential.

It is my personal goal to support students, parents, teachers, and the principal, Mr. Foster, as we all work together to realize our vision: LEARN, MOTIVATE, SUCCEED.  Here’s to the best school year yet, GO LAKERS!

Magdalena Steytler, EdD.
